Response from MS NH Seacoast Escape

Hi Mike,

Thank you so much for joining us this year at the NH Seacoast Escape! I hope you enjoyed your day, and will plan on joining us again next year! I just wanted to forward you an email I received from one of the cyclists…

Great ride Heidi, as always! Thanks for having Mike Card there this year. He was incredible! I see chiropractors regularly and none of them ever give me as much time as he did. It was by far the most thorough chiro visit I’ve ever had! I’m a big fan of chiropractors, so long as they’re “new-school” chiropractors. There are still a lot out there that just want to crack your back and move on. The good ones do ART, Graston, and other muscle/tissue work. Those ones are good to have around.

I thought you might enjoy that! Have a great day!

Say Hello to Card Chiropractic Care at Newmarket Old Home Days

Ryan Lochte Why Has He Improved So Much?

At an interview with eurosport television, the gold medal swimmer was asked what was the major difference between the 2008 Olympics and this year? He attributes most of his improvement on cleaning up his diet. Up to the 2008 Olympics he would eat McDonald's 10 days straight, but since cleaning up his diet, he feels much faster. Just another example of good in=good out. (real scientific there).

Then Hiked to Mt. Liberty and Lafayette, this beautiful waterfall was on the way up. Not to many trails with both a great waterfall and a nice view at the top.

CT Scans Increase Cancer Risk

A good write up by the NYT covering a large British study of 180,000 children showed that children with 2-3 scans had 3x the risk of both brain cancer and leukemia. Also, they estimated that 1/3 of the time CT was unnecessary or could have been replaced with US or MRI. Check our the article.

Vigorous Exercise decreases Psoriasis

Study published in JAMA shows that women who participate in vigorous exercise had a reduced risk of incident psoriasis. Since Psoriasis is related to systemic inflammation, and since exercise helps reduce inflammation, it makes sense that exercise should help. However, this study showed that mild exercise like walking did not have the same effect as vigorous exercise. Check it out.

Smart People Walk this way....

There is an excellent article in the current NY Times focusing on several studies suggesting that exercise should be the current recommendation to not only preserve, but increase cognitive function and memory. One of the studies compared sixty five year olds who stretched or walked. The walking group expanded the area of the brain in charge of memory, where the group who stretched lost size at the average amount due to aging. Click here to check out the full article.

Great Neck Exercises PDF

Please note the differences between stretching and strengthening. If your neck is already superfexible from a car accident, fall, etc. please focus on the strengthening. If you are super stiff please focus on the stretches.
